On Oct. 31, an initial convoy of Algerian military personnel entered northern Niger, escorting 53 tankers carrying approximately 1.65 million liters of fuel to Agadez, where it arrived on Nov. 1 after being joined by Niger Armed Forces personnel at the border, RFI reported on Nov. 2. RFI also reported that a separate Algerian military unit could be stationed in Niamey and that a former French military headquarters in northeastern Niger is expected to host Algerian troops, though the deployment's size, mandate and duration remain unclear, with no indication of direct involvement in counterinsurgency operations.
