South African police secured an interim court order from the Durban High Court prohibiting demonstrations by the anti-immigration movement March and March across eThekwini municipality in KwaZulu-Natal, the Financial Times reported on Oct. 29. Police sought the order after receiving intelligence that the movement's supporters were mobilizing outside the Department of Home Affairs' refugee reception center in Berea, Durban, where hundreds of African asylum seekers had gathered to regularize their immigration status, and were allegedly planning to set the facility alight.
