The Itsekiri National Youth Council said Nigeria's Independent National Electoral Commission's recent upload of polling units and ward delineation data for the southern Delta state's Warri area on its online portal demonstrated that it was "deliberately trying to cause another round of ethnic crisis" and that it would be responsible for any violence in the area, Vanguard reported on Oct. 30. The youth council rejected the creation of some polling units as "fraudulent" and denounced the transfer of certain polling units from one ward to another, thereafter stating that ethnic Ijaws "are not part of Warri South" and urging the electoral commission to "immediately" remove the uploaded data from its portal.
