Venezuelan opposition leader Maria Corina Machado said at an Oct. 29 event streamed online that U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio had laid out a roadmap that would allow for Venezuela to hold elections in 2027. Just before the stream, Venezuelan President Delcy Rodriguez said in a televised speech that the country would hold elections as dictated by the constitution, organized by an overhauled electoral body and witnessed by the international community, although she did not provide a date.
