The U.S. Department of the Treasury's Office of Foreign Assets Control announced that it imposed sanctions on Rwanda's Ministry of Defence and Rwandan financial company Zigama Credit and Savings Society in response to the Rwandan government's violation of its 2025 peace agreement with the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Reuters reported on Oct. 29. The sanctions block designated entities' assets in the United States, bar U.S. persons and entities based in the United States from engaging in transactions with designated entities and prohibit non-U.S. persons from engaging in conduct that evades these sanctions.
