Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed announced in an X post on Oct. 28 that Ethiopia had received 12 Su-35 fighter jets from Russia, adding that Moscow would deliver four S-400 surface-to-air missile batteries at an unspecified date. Abiy said the Su-35s were the "first twelve" to be delivered, hinting at more deliveries, and noted that the acquisition of Su-35s and S-400s strengthened Ethiopia's ability to "preemptively deter aggression."
