China's ruling Communist Party concluded its fifth plenum by pledging to deepen its anti-corruption campaign, adopting a resolution on stricter Party governance and confirming dozens of previously ordered expulsions of senior officials, the Financial Times reported on Oct 29. It also left the current five vacancies on the Central Military Commission unfilled, leaving only President Xi Jinping and Vice Chairman Zhang Shengmin — the military official most closely associated with enforcing purges — as its only active members.
