After initially declaring himself "president-elect of Brazil," defeated presidential candidate Flavio Bolsonaro described himself as "leader of Brazil" in a new version of a letter he published on his X account on Oct. 28. The revision came after Brazil's Superior Electoral Court, Bolsonaro's running mate, his Liberal Party and close allies officially recognized the results of Brazil's Oct. 25 general election, while media reports indicated the U.S. diplomats requested the change to preserve U.S. interests.
