The Democratic Republic of the Congo's opposition coalition C64 issued a joint statement rejecting proposed constitutional changes that could extend President Felix Tshisekedi's rule or delay the 2028 elections, warning that such moves could amount to a “constitutional coup,” RFI reported on Oct. 27. The coalition also opposed armed rebellion, called for an inclusive national dialogue, and proposed separate meetings with Tshisekedi and former President Joseph Kabila, who leads the new Front for the Refoundation of the Nation , or FRN, which incorporates the dissolved Rwanda-backed Alliance for the Congo River, or AFC, and its M23 rebel group.
