China's Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesperson Guo Jiakun said China "strictly abides" by bilateral agreements and conducts "normal border patrol activities to safeguard territorial sovereignty and stability," and he added that China hopes India will cooperate to "jointly implement the common understandings between the two sides," Bloomberg reported on Oct. 26. The comments come after India's Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson on Oct. 23 attributed occasional "disturb[ances]" to peace along the border to Chinese forces "diverg[ing] from established patrolling patterns."
