El Salvador's President Nayib Bukele said he launched a military operation in Haiti to rescue four Salvadoran soldiers serving as aviation technicians in the U.N.-authorized gang suppression force, or GSF, who are believed to have been kidnapped by gangs in Haiti outside Port-au-Prince on Oct. 18, AP reported Oct. 21. Bukele warned of a more forceful response if the Salvadorans were not returned "alive, unharmed."
