Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed said in an interview with state-owned broadcaster EBC that Eritrea should pursue economic cooperation with Ethiopia and would face "extremely severe consequences" should it choose "to be a haven for enemies," Addis Standard reported on Oct. 20. This comes as the Ethiopian military and the allied Tigray Peace Force continue to engage in daily clashes with the Tigray People's Liberation Front, or TPLF, in rural areas of northern and central Tigray.
