Zimbabwe's ruling Zimbabwe African National Union-Patriotic Front party, or ZANU-PF, endorsed President Emmerson Mnangagwa as its presidential candidate for its 2029 party congress during its annual party conference, state-owned broadcaster ZBC reported on Oct. 17. During the party conference, Vice President Constantino Chiwenga publicly traded barbs with Mnangagwa, questioning during his address whether ZANU-PF was "not repeating the same mistakes" that caused the ousting of former President Robert Mugabe.
