South Korea's defense ministry spokesperson said in a regular press briefing, "Speaking ⁠in a personal capacity, I think that ​if the goalposts keep moving, wartime operational control [OpCon] can never be transferred" from the United States to South Korea, Yonhap News Agency reported on Oct. 15. However, she added, "The official position of the defense ministry is that South Korea and the U.S. are closely coordinating the matter."
