Romania's Social Democratic Party, or PSD, will join the government of Prime Minister-designate Luca Niculescu with 11 of 17 ministers, including the interior, defense, transport and economy portfolios, while independents will take finance, foreign affairs and energy, Romania Insider reported on Oct. 14, citing PSD leader Sorin Grindeanu. The National Liberal Party, or PNL, and the ethnic Hungarian Democratic Union of Romania, or UDMR, will vote for the Cabinet without joining it, with a confidence vote in Niculescu's government expected around Oct. 19-20.
