U.S. President Donald Trump announced at an Oct. 13 rally in Alaska that Taiwan would purchase 30% of the output volume of the Alaska LNG project, or 6 million tons per year, for the next 20 years and invest $4.4 billion in the $50 billion project. On Oct. 14, Taiwan's economy ministry confirmed both claims, noting production could begin by 2032, but adding that Taiwan's state-owned CPC was still finalizing the details of the investment and purchase.
