U.S. tech company Anthropic warned in an Oct. 12 research report from its Frontier Red Team that its experiments suggest small artificial intelligence models may be "months" away from being capable of self-replicating on commercial Internet of Things devices, such as smart ovens and off-brand Android TV boxes.
