Delhi Police detained more than 2,000 protesters, including leaders of the Cockroach Janta Party youth group, surrounding Oct. 10-11 demonstrations in the national capital demanding the resignation of India's chief election commissioner, Reuters reported on Oct. 11. Delhi Police subsequently announced on Oct. 12 that they would withdraw Jantar Mantar as the capital's officially sanctioned protest site and permit Ramlila Ground, CBD Ground and Burari Ground as replacements, which are located farther from Parliament and other government buildings.
