Italy's Chamber of Deputies gave final approval to Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni's electoral reform by 227 votes to 164, Il Sole 24 Ore reported on Oct. 8. The law, which will apply to the general election due by September 2027, introduces a fully proportional system with a seat bonus guaranteeing a parliamentary majority to any coalition winning over 42% of the vote and requires each coalition to name its prime ministerial candidate in advance.
