Eritrea deployed forces to the Ethiopian city of Adigrat, located 40 kilometers (25 miles) from the Ethiopia-Eritrea border, Addis Standard reported on Oct. 7, citing AFP and local officials and residents. According to an eyewitness quoted by AFP, Eritrean troops and heavy artillery transported in large trucks were moving south from Adigrat toward the locality of Idaga Hamus, about 50 to 60 kilometers from positions currently held by the Ethiopian military.
