Saudi Arabia's defense minister announced on Oct. 5 that the Strategic Political and Defense Committee of the Mecca Joint Defense Agreement, a recently formed alliance with Turkey and Pakistan, "activated collective deterrence measures" in response to recent attacks on Saudi Arabia by Yemen's Iran-backed Houthis, Al Jazeera reported on Oct. 6. The measures reportedly include the rapid deployment of capabilities under "approved arrangements" and in accordance with each country's laws.
