China's negotiating team for a Sept. 23-25 summit between President Xi Jinping and U.S. President Donald Trump in Washington sought to expand the scope of talks to dozens of diplomatic and security issues, in addition to trade issues, the South China Morning Post reported on Oct. 6. However, the White House pushed back, saying Trump would only discuss trade, Iran and plans for follow-up summits with Xi in November and December.
