During Chinese President Xi Jinping's Sept 23-25 visit to Washington, D.C., for trade talks with U.S. President Donald Trump, the 73-year-old leader forwent an arrival meeting with Trump on the night of Sept. 23 and a working lunch on Sept. 24, Wall Street Journal sources reported late on Oct. 2. He also kept short his Sept. 24 afternoon meeting with Trump and his Sept. 25 visit to the National Archives and stayed in a private "hold room" in the White House to rest, while the Chinese team planned around considerations of how long Xi would walk, stand and need to rest.
