The U.S. government will divert $52 million in military aid from Slovakia, North Macedonia, Tunisia and Iraq to Colombia, Ecuador, Panama and Peru, The Washington Post reported on Oct. 1. Separately, the share of Latin Americans who view Washington's influence in the region as positive has fallen from 60% to 57% since 2020, while the share who view Beijing's influence positively has risen from 48% to 65%, according to the Latinobarometro survey.
