Ethiopia is reportedly preparing to withdraw more than 3,000 troops from Somalia and redeploy them to its own northern regions as fighting with rebel groups intensifies at home, Bloomberg reported on Sept. 30. The troops, mostly deployed in Somalia's Bay and Bakool regions, are reportedly expected to begin leaving Somalia in the coming days or weeks, though neither Somalia nor Ethiopia has confirmed the reported withdrawal.
