Leaders of 20 of the roughly two dozen parties comprising the opposition Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance, or INDIA, met to strategize their response to the Election Commission of India's controversial revision of voter rolls and subsequently announced protests that include district-level demonstrations from Oct. 2-8 and a march to the commission office in New Delhi on Oct. 6, Bloomberg reported on Sept. 30. The announcement comes ahead of related protests planned for Oct. 2 by the Cockroach Janta Party youth group, in the wake of a Sept. 23 report by The Indian Express that said the election commission proceeded with the revision exercise despite two of its three members expressing formal concerns.
