OpenAI is scrapping the planned October release of its GPT 6.1 Astra model after safety tests found that the model did not meet expectations when it came to "staying within scope and authorization, and how it communicates back to the user about the type of work it's done," Bloomberg reported on Sept. 28. Separately, Claude developer Anthropic said it plans to warn potential investors in its initial public offering prospectus that its technology could pose "catastrophic or existential risks to humanity," and the prospectus will notably devote 80 of its 261 pages to risk factors.
