The Ethiopian military claimed to have repelled offensives by the Tigray People's Liberation Front, or TPLF, from Tigray into neighboring regions and killed 272 TPLF fighters, while TPLF Vice President Amanuel Assefa said the movement was now "in the situation of full-blown war," BBC News and Al Jazeera reported on Sept. 24. Conflict-monitoring platform ACLED reported the same day that the TPLF and the Amhara Fano National Movement, or AFNM, continued clashing with pro-government forces in the Gazgibela, Gidan, Lasta and Raya Kobo districts of the Amhara region's northern Wag Hemra and North Wollo zones, with ACLED sources also reporting the outbreak of clashes along the Tekeze River in western Tigray.
