Authorities hiked the prices of four petroleum products by 20 taka ($0.16) per liter, raising diesel prices to 135 taka per liter, octane to 165 taka per liter, petrol to 160 taka per liter and kerosene to 155 taka per liter, The Daily Star reported on Sept. 21. This is the largest price increase since August 2022, when the government hiked prices amid energy disruptions linked to Russia's invasion of Ukraine, and it is the third such hike made by the Bangladesh Nationalist Party since it took office in February 2026.
