U.S. President Donald Trump ordered, and then reversed, a U.S. military intervention against Yemen's Iran-backed Houthi rebels after Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman requested assistance, The New York Times reported on Sept. 20. The order was canceled for undisclosed reasons, but according to The New York Times, many within the White House's inner circle oppose a direct intervention against the Houthis, who struck Riyadh's airport on Sept. 19 and are continuing offensives against Yemen's Saudi-backed government forces in Marib and Taiz.
