Authorities detained former Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan's sisters Dr. Uzma Khan and Noreen Niazi on Sept. 21 and Aleema Khan on Sept. 20 ahead of a Sept. 27 protest in Islamabad planned by Khan's Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf party, Dawn reported on Sept. 21. Authorities are reportedly detaining the sisters for 30 days under a public order ordinance, accusing them of mobilizing party supporters ahead of the Sept. 27 protest and citing their alleged involvement in the May 9, 2023, riots surrounding Khan's arrest.
