Chairperson of the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry, Justice Mbuyiseli Madlanga, said evidence increasingly supported allegations made in July 2025 by Lt. Gen. Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi regarding criminal groups' infiltration of South Africa's criminal justice system, Independent Online reported on Sept. 17. Madlanga said evidence indicated that South Africa's criminal justice system was "populated by malleable, corrupt state functionaries."
