According to India's foreign ministry, New Delhi warned Washington that new tariffs targeting its purchases of Russian oil could strain bilateral ties, Reuters reported on Sept. 17. The foreign ministry's comments come after the U.S. House of Representatives passed a sanctions and tariff bill that would authorize President Donald Trump to impose tariffs of up to 100% on countries, including India, over their purchases of Russian energy.
