Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps on Sept. 9 announced it attacked 10 ships near the Strait of Hormuz and launched a ballistic missile attack on U.S. military assets at the Al-Azraq air base in Jordan a day after the U.S. military destroyed five Iranian oil tankers, Reuters reported. According to a Sept. 8 post by U.S. Central Command on X, the U.S. attacks on the oil tankers came in retaliation for failed Iranian attacks targeting U.S. warships. The IRGC also threatened to attack oil tankers in Kuwait and Bahrain, calling for crews to evacuate the vessels.
