U.K. Foreign Secretary Ed Miliband, in coordination with France and Canada, announced a ban on the trade of goods and certain services from Israeli settlements in the West Bank, Politico reported Sept. 8. In retaliation, Israel's foreign ministry announced plans to close the U.K. consulate in Jerusalem, prohibit U.K. participation in the U.S.-led International Gaza Support Center headquartered in Israel, halt U.K. training of Palestinian Authority security forces in the West Bank, and ban 12 British individuals, including lawmakers, from entering Israel.
