Kazakhstan Nuclear Power Plants and Rosatom subsidiary Atomstroyexport signed the main engineering, procurement and construction contract for Kazakhstan's first nuclear power plant , comprising two VVER-1200 reactors near Lake Balkhash, Qazinform reported on Sept. 3. The contract, signed on the sidelines of the Eastern Economic Forum in Vladivostok, Russia, remains subject to Kazakh government approval, while licensing and detailed financing terms are still pending.
