Romania will forfeit about 770 million euros ($816 million) in EU pandemic recovery funds after it failed to adopt a reform of public-sector wages, one of the final milestones in the country's recovery plan, before the bloc's Aug. 31 deadline, the Financial Times reported the same day. President Nicusor Dan's office had confirmed on Aug. 28 that the law would not pass in time, days after negotiations among the main parties had collapsed.
