Nepalese Finance Minister Swarnim Wagle said initial estimates of rebuilding costs following the country's Aug. 26 floods stood around $4 billion-$5 billion, around a 10th of the country's 2025 gross domestic product, Reuters reported on Aug. 29. Wagle emphasized that the figures were merely estimates but added, "We will require much less than what we needed for the 2015 earthquake," which cost $9 billion in recovery funds.
