The government of the Democratic Republic of the Congo signed a 30-year concession agreement with Portuguese construction company Mota-Engil to modernize and operate the 1,037 kilometer (644 mile) railway section between the town of Dilolo on the Congo-Angola border and the town of Sakania on the Congo-Zambia border, Radio Okapi reported on Aug. 26. Congolese President Felix Tshisekedi and his Angolan counterpart Joao Lourenco attended the signing ceremony, and Mota-Engil said its total investments in the railway should amount to $1.8 billion.
