Around 40,000 Hyundai Motor union members began a one-day strike after wage negotiations stalled, marking their first full-day walkout since 2016, Reuters reported on Aug. 21. The union is seeking higher bonuses, an increase in the retirement age from 60, protections against job losses from artificial intelligence and automation and direct negotiations between parts suppliers and automakers.
