U.S. envoy to Syria Tom Barrack said the United States would introduce a deconfliction method between Turkey and Israel, two key U.S. allies, after Israel struck an air base near the Turkish border in Syria's Idlib province on Aug. 18, The National reported on Aug. 19. Barrack warned that the airstrikes could have resulted in Turkish jets scrambling to protect Turkish airspace and/or forces in Syria, resulting in an incident between the two.
