Zambian President Hakainde Hichilema was reelected for a second term, securing around 60% of the vote against 38% for his main challenger, Brian Mundubile of the opposition Tonse Alliance, according to the Electoral Commission of Zambia, BBC reported on Aug. 18. Mundubile and opposition representatives have disputed the election process, and Mundubile is reportedly in hiding after describing an Aug. 17 armed raid on his residence as an attack on his life.
