U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said the United States plans to unveil more extensive economic measures against Iran during the week of Aug. 17, Bloomberg reported on Aug. 14. Though he did not provide details, Bessent said the measures would add to the ongoing U.S. blockade of Iranian ports, with the USS George Washington aircraft carrier deploying to the Middle East to replace the USS Abraham Lincoln.
