India and the five-member Southern African Customs Union signed terms of reference to begin negotiations on a preferential trade agreement, Reuters reported on Aug. 12. This revives trade talks between India and SACU, which includes South Africa, Botswana, Namibia, Lesotho and eSwatini, after five rounds of negotiations between 2002 and 2010 failed to produce an agreement.
