Turkey's Grand National Assembly approved a framework law for the disbandment and dissolution of the Kurdistan Workers' Party , or PKK, in a 468-88 vote, Reuters reported on Aug. 10. Following the Turkish National Security Council's verification of the group's total disbandment, sentences for some PKK members would be suspended, investigations into criminal charges against some others would be paused, and around 3,500 imprisoned PKK members would be released in the initial phase.
