Chilean President Jose Antonio Kast unveiled his security legislative agenda, which seeks to expand the government's capacity to combat organized crime, Bloomberg reported on Aug. 5. The agenda includes a constitutional reform to make public safety the state's explicit duty, with Kast also planning to extend immigration detention periods and expand deportations, in addition to beefing up border control measures.
