Ninety-one Turkish lawmakers defected from the opposition Republican People's Party, or CHP, to Ozgur Ozel's Yeni Parti, or New Party, DW reported on July 24. The move demotes the CHP from the second-largest party in parliament to the fourth-largest, with the New Party now the second-largest.
