Yemen's Iran-backed Houthis said they will impose a naval embargo against Saudi Arabia, citing Riyadh's air and land blockade against Houthi-controlled parts of Yemen, Reuters reported on July 20.

The Houthis' announcement follows the group's missile attacks against Saudi Arabia the week of July 13, which came after the Houthis accused Riyadh of bombing the Houthi-controlled Sanaa International Airport. Those attacks were the first claimed Houthi strikes against Saudi Arabia since the informal March 2022 truce, which had largely halted direct cross-border attacks following years of Houthi attacks on Saudi energy infrastructure.
