South African President Cyril Ramaphosa extended the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry's deadline to submit its final report from Aug. 31 to Nov. 16, the South African Presidency said in a July 9 statement. Ramaphosa set Oct. 2 as the new deadline for the submission of evidence.

The Madlanga Commission was set up in response to July 2025 allegations by KwaZulu-Natal police commissioner Lt. Gen. Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi claiming that criminal organizations have systematically infiltrated South Africa's law enforcement, judicial system and political class. The Madlanga Commission began its work in September 2025 and was initially due to submit its first public report in March 2026, but the deadline was delayed to Aug. 31 in early March.
