Ukrainian drones hit Russia's Omsk oil refinery, which is located almost 1,500 miles (2,414 kilometers) east of Ukraine and deep inside Siberia, near Russia's border with Kazakhstan, Kommersant reported on July 6. Ukraine also struck refineries in the Yaroslavl, Leningrad and Kaluga regions, as well as the Baltic ports of Ust-Luga and Vysotsk, and caused a blackout in Crimea.
The attack on the 425,000 barrel per day Omsk refinery, one of Russia's largest, comes amid higher summer fuel demand and lower global oil prices. Russia is reportedly poised to receive at least 200,000 barrels of Japanese-origin jet fuel through traders, likely via South Korea.
